Many are at the mercy of the climate catastrophe, sufficient funds for adaptation are denied, decisions are postponed into the future, causes are deepened with a view to the next deal. A cop of truth would have to recognize that structural changes are necessary. Evacuation is not the solution here. We will see where the forced interruption of the negotiation leads. In the next few hours, we’ll see If the smoke signals at the end of the negotiations from Belém will follow the fossil lobbyists or the voices of the street and those affected. Anyone who chooses fossil fuel paths and the same path of structural injustice will have to reckon with the pressure from the street, simply because it is necessary and there is no other choice.

Bei der Klimakonferenz geht es darum die weitere Erwärmung zu bremsen, Mittel an die Hand zu geben, um Feuer zu löschen. Der Klimakatastrophe sind viele ausgeliefert, ausreichend Mittel zur Anpassung werden verweigert, Entscheidungen werden in die Zukunft geschoben, Ursachen werden vertieft mit Blick auf das nächste Geschäft. Eine Cop der Wahrheit müsste anerkennen, dass strukturelle Veränderungen notwendig sind. Eine Evakuierung ist hier nicht die Lösung. Wir werden sehen, wohin die Zwangsunterbrechung der Verhandlung führt. Auf das in den nächsten Stunden die Rauchzeichen zum Ende der Verhandlung aus Belém nicht den fossilen Lobbyisten sondern den Stimmen der Straße und den Betroffenen folgen. Wer sich für fossile Pfade und den gleichen Pfad struktureller Ungerechtigkeit entscheidet, wird mit dem Druck der Straße rechnen müssen, ganz einfach weil es notwendig ist und keine andere Wahl bleibt.
